Kids @ Heart Sunday Small Groups
Kids @ Heart Sunday Small Group ministry at Heart of the
Canyons is for children from Birth through sixth grade. Our Sunday Small Group ministry
is where children learn how to study the Bible, worship
through singing and to build quality friendships.
Early Childhood
The first part of our strategy is to determine what is most crucial for kids to know. Starting in early childhood we begin to teach children to “wonder”. Children have a desire to marvel at something and to be amazed; they are looking for something to incite wonder. There we teach God made everything. God made me. God Love’s everyone. God loves me. Discovering the awe of God.
Elemetary
We want older children begin to implement specific
virtues through a comprehensive approach to exhibiting the character of
Christ. It is built around three Basic Truths every child should
embrace according to what Jesus modeled in Luke 2:52 "and Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man." From this verse we teach:
•I need to make the wise choice.
•I can trust God no matter what.
•I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
Each Basic Truth is expanded into 36 timely lessons highlighting
virtues that illustrate the three principles and are amplified by a
weekly key concept taught over a three-year track. Over these three
years 150 Bible stories and is based on a Core Virtue and Memory Verse
each month.

What is
Breakout?
Breakout is designed to guide students, grades three
through six, toward spiritual maturity in a small
group setting. The areas of growth covered in Breakout
are Knowing Christ, Growing in Christ, Serving Christ,
and Sharing Christ. Students work through one book
each season in their small group, where they are
encouraged to develop relationships with their leaders
and accountability with other students. Each student
begins in the first book, entitled “Break In,” and
will advance to the next book the following season.
Our goal in Breakout is to see students learn about
Christ, and develop a desire to further their walk
through serving in ministry and sharing Christ in
their mission field.
Breakout Book Break down:
Break In ( first book) –Book one focuses on Knowing Christ and is entitled "Break In, How to Know Christ." Students learn and discuss topics such as salvation, baptism and communion. Students are encouraged to develop a solid relationship with Christ.
Break Through (second book) – Book two focuses on Growing In Christ and is entitled "Break Through, How to Grow in Christ." Each student will grow in the wisdom and understanding of who Christ is, while learning and discussing topics such as fellowship, giving and worship. Students are encouraged to memorize the books of the Bible in order.
Break Away (third book) – Book three is about serving Christ and is entitled "Break Away, How to Serve Christ." Students discover their S.H.A.P.E. (through Personality and Spiritual Gifts tests) and learn how they can best use the gifts God has given them. Students are encouraged to get involved in a ministry. Students also spend the last half of this book going through the book of John by having daily quiet times opposed to one lesson for the week.

Break Out ( fourth book) – The fourth book focuses on Sharing Christ and is entitled "Break Out, How to Share Christ." Each student will have the opportunity to learn and discuss topics such as evangelism, service and missions. Students write and teach their own lesson within their small group as well as prepare and deliver their personal testimony. After they complete the book they apply what they have learned over the past four books and go on a missions trip.
